Hood River, Oregon, USA — Friday, July 20: As the wind filled in through the Columbia River Gorge early yesterday afternoon, the Women’s Finals of the 2012 Ro Sham Throwdown resumed. (Due to low water conditions, the riders completed only one third of the terrain park course on Wednesday.)

Colleen Carroll, Sensi Graves, Laura Maher, and Dominique Granger wrapped up the showdown with an impressive variety of tricks, executed with a high degree of technical difficulty, amplitude and style. A high-stakes face-off, Carroll took top honors with a heat score of 60.52, while Maher and Graves came in second and third with scores of 42.91 and 38.35. Granger did not complete the course.

Winds stayed strong and steady as the international pro-am contest switched over to the Men’s Qualifiers. Heat 1 Round 2 ran first, with John Perry and Evan Netsch scoring 46.77 and 40.29, respectively, advancing from the remaining pack of eight and onto the semi finals tomorrow. With a score of 51.88, Jason Slezak won Round 2 Heat 2 by a whopping 15-point margin, with Sam Bell placing second in the heat with 36.41 points, besting Chris Bobryk’s score of 35.37. However, since Bobryk scored a 39.41 in the Round 1 qualifier, which was higher than Bell’s score, Bobryk secured the second ticket to the semifinals.
