They didn’t waste time to create a great atmosphere on the slopes and in the general square of the Kitecup for the likes of the organizers. The general enthusiasm felt for this “snow session” of the Yourmood Kitecup H2 Open and the presence of numerous renowned champions, such as Fabienne d’Ortoli, Anton Uzhegov (2013 Snowkite World Champion) and Jeremy Eloy, are proof of this young competition’s reputation.

This weekend, the Petit St-Bernard’s pass offered ideal conditions for this discipline’s practice. Glowing sun and perfect winds were on the spot. All an adept for powder snow could ever wish for while getting his gear ready. The first day of Saturday was dedicated to the boarder cross and started at 10AM with ski heats. The event’s progress didn’t lack anything and the sessions followed each other without timeouts. The flysurfer team offered free initiations to snowkite, for the pleasure of the vacationers. For the event on skis, it was Laurent Sublet (Snowkite France Champion) who won the jackpot, since he finished ahead of Pascal Boulgakov and Yannick Pittet.

The snowboard heats could then take place and here again the show was sensational. Jeremy Eloy won the competition. Alexandre Simonin was second and Romain Dequidt finished third. Two other riders made a great impression: Pedro Figueiredo from Portugal, ending his run in the semi-finals… for his snowkite debuts and Célia Codaccioni who was fearsome.

This Sunday, superb weather conditions allowed the festivities to continue. On the menu, the women’s final in which Célia Codaccioni affirmed her first place. Next, the Best trick Freestyle competition allowed the valiant riders to show the extent of their talents, while having fun and enjoy the great atmosphere. For this challenge, it was Laurent Sublet (FR) and Alexandre Simonin (CH) who proved to be the best.

And that is how the new edition of the successful Yourmood Kitecup H2 Open ended. The sixty riders present, ideal weather conditions and legendary good mood which characterizes best the organizer’s team, made this new edition a very very successful one.

For the continuation of these events, let us take of our winter coats, hats and white jackets and we will meet you for the bikini version of this competition in July, in Portugal, à costa da Caparica

The wind wasn’t always on time but that is part of the game and the kite surfers amused themselves
in many other ways! A bunch of laughters, a ton of fun nights and a few musical decibels thanks to
the turntables of MC Speak2Max.

Logged in the luxurious Miramar Hotel (4 stars), the whole team could benefit from various relaxing
activities such as the Jacuzzi or by posing in front of the Guinness Record Book picture of the gigantic
wave in Nazaré.

Of course there was also plenty of action. First of all, during the Best Trick freestyle followed by
the Best Waves Contest a few days later with the “crème de la crème” Portuguese riders. The
competition took place on some pretty weak conditions, waves not exceeding 1 meter and wind
behaving itself at an average of 15 knots on the Praia do Norte.

Finally, it was our patriot Julien Kerneur who won the test (finishing first in the freestyle competition)
followed closely by the Portuguese riders. A special honour was awarded to Mathilde Serin for being
the only woman in the competition.

After a beautiful award ceremony and prize money distribution, the riders left conquered by this new
2012 edition.

As for the staff, they enjoyed for the last time a great competition, fresh fish, a few cocktails of which
we will not reveal the names, before going back home heavy hearted but with plenty of beautiful
memories.

Next year’s session already being set, first week of july for the water sesh expanded concept with the "battle crew", the snow sesh need to be confirmed, stay tuned !
