In the most recent issue of SBC Kiteboard we spoke with Elliot about his new surf film Future This. For this sbckiteboard.com web update we speak with him about his latest film Catalyst.

   What’s Catalyst about?

Catalyst basically documents a year in the life of top Cabrinha riders Andre Phillip and Susi Mai and also features a more in depth profile of the man behind the company Pete Cabrinha.  It goes a little more in depth with each rider so you really find out who they are, where they live, how they live, how they ride, what they ride etc.  The DVD also has plenty of cameo appearances from all the other Cabrinha team guys and girls as well.  It was shot on location in the Bahamas, Guadeloupe, DR, Maui, Hatteras, and Peru.  We missioned our asses off and came up with some new angles for shooting that I am stoked on!  You’re gonna have to buy the DVD when it comes out to see um.

Who’s all is in it?
Dre, Susi, Pete, Damien Leroy, John Modica, Kevin Steen,  Shaun Richmond, Jesse Richmond, Cam Dietrich, and more.

Worst encounter?
Computers crashing mid project.

Funniest story?
One morning, at around 7 am,  I found myself and Dre covered in bird shit down at Jabberwok beach (Antigua).  We had decided to wake up early to mission and try and clean up and fix his 60-ft. A-frame thats been parked in the water unridden for months on end so we could film it proper.   Apparently the seagulls liked hanging out on it for the last 6 months before he came home to session it.  I had to throw away the shirt and boardshorts I was wearing during the clean up cuz they stunk so bad!

If you ever go to Peru and drive south out of Mancora through the desert,  you might see a guy in a purple shirt laying on the side of the road in a ditch.  You will probably have to swerve a bit to miss his legs which will be literally dangling into the road!   According to our Peruvian host Gary Siskar,  you don’t need to stop, he’s not dead……apparently he just wanders around the desert and falls asleep on the side of the road every night, and wakes up late.  He doesn’t even drink,  go figure.
