For the 1st time in Belgium the Oxbow Kite Open Race is borned.

The 5^th and 6^th July Open to all riders in RBSC of Duinbergen Long distance and Slalom Race on programme.

Oxbow Kite Open Race

PRESENTATION :

The reason of the OXBOW Kite Open Race is to develop and make known the

kiteboarding with the eyes of Belgian general public, according to qualitative and professional

standards.

This first edition is based on 1 event on the Belgian coast.

This event will get together all the Belgian amateurs in this very spectacular discipline

and completely in the wind which is the kitesurf.

á Slalom Race

The whole of the presentations will be noted by a professional jury.

The public will thus be able this year, to attend in edge of beach a spectacle of high

stunt-flying.

The SPORT

Kiteboarding is The sport of slips of this beginning of millennium.

Left compromise between surfing and the kite, its popularity does not cease increasing.

For proof of many chains of television reports devote to him regularly.

This historical advent in the world of slips is partly due to the fact that many candidates

of high levels tested it and adopted.

Belgium is essential largely near this public of experts as being the ideal country for

With its 63 km of coast, this country offers a superb place of practice with very good

conditions of wind, beautiful great beaches and the reception of the local population is more

Belgium also has a population of approximately 1.500 practises in perpetual increase.

Best Belgian Riders will come to make the spectacle.

Everything is joined to do the OXBOW Kite Open Racce a success.

The objective is to decree the titles: Miss and Mister OXBOW Kite open Race and to

put Belgium like the country of Kitesurf.

Long distance and Slalom Race

The long distance and the Slalom Race are a single format of race because it allows the

professionals and the amateurs to meet.

They are also enthralling because they combine many gravitational elements: balance,

speed, tactic of race and placement, self-control and various intervening elements: wind,

vagueness, running, kite and other runners.

The Slalom Race:

On the beach, 4,5 or 6 “Riders” or runners is placed on a “starting line”.

With the signal, they spring while running on the beach, board under the arm and

veils in the air.

During a “heat” very rate/rhythm and supported, the “Riders” must at the same time

be fastest, most precise, pass the buoys imposed on water in the course.

The spectacle is with go and the public present – even if he does not know that

partially the discipline – includes/understands very quickly and impassions itself for this rather

simple race: 1 departure, 1 arrival, 1 first, 1 the last, of the rate/rhythm, the brawl and

suspense until the arrival.

It really acts of a new single discipline where the spectacle is whole and intense,

where the pros face the amateurs, in a true sporting spirit where competition, control and

going beyond have their place.

The Long distance:

The practice is connected with the regatta in traditional veil, everyone leaves at the

same time. That the spectacle splendid, is coloured but where the spirit speed, technique,

tactic make place in the middle of the runners. The long distance becomes the Reine

discipline is very accessible to everyone.

The RBSC of Duinbergen with its great experiment of regattas seems

to us indicated to receive in their superb structure this first edition of

the OXBOW Kite Open Race 2008 and the public.

The program

The confirmation of the inscriptions is done as from Friday Evening (end of afternoon), at

which time the whole of the infrastructures is installed. Open Ceremony.

Saturdays morning, the skipper meeting takes place and the competition begins, animations

open with the public. Evening OXBOW Beach Party open to all.

Sunday will end in a ceremony of official fence with the handing-over of the prices to the

many participants.
