BSA TRADE INFORMATION Australia has played an enormous role in the growth of board sports around the world, in particular the sport of surfing. Our dominance in the global board sports market is typified by the fact the three largest board sport clothing manufacturers in the world are Australian companies. Given our influence in the global market and the cultural synergies that exist between board sports it is remarkable there is no forum that brings the Australian board sport industry together. Events such as Surf Expo and ASR are hugely popular in the USA and have been driving business for the American board sport industry for 30 years and 24 years respectively. In September 2006 the Australian board sport industry will have such an event. It’s called Board Sports Australia. Board Sports Australia (BSA) is an event that will bring the Australian board sports industry together in an expo like nothing ever before seen on our shores. BSA will give manufacturers and distributors of board sport apparel, hardware and accessories a much needed opportunity to come together with retail decision makers from across the country to do business. Held annually, BSA’s main emphasis is on the three, premier stand up board sports – surfing, snowboarding and skateboarding. In addition to this, BSA is also open to emerging board sports such as wakeboarding and kiteboarding. Note: BSA is not open to non-board sports (e.g. diving, waterskiing, kayaking etc). BSA will provide producers and suppliers of board sport products with a high quality, targeted environment to do business with key decision makers. BSA will not only complement existing sales activities, but will also broaden marketing efforts to this audience. For trade buyers, BSA will be a one stop purchasing shop, enabling retail decision makers to place orders for the up-coming season/year, discuss new product developments and future promotional opportunities. In addition to providing trade buyers with a comfortable, no fuss buying environment, BSA will convene a series of informative seminars tailored to address topics that are top of mind with board sports retailers. The seminars hosted by experts in retail management will provide retailers with valuable insights on key issues such as marketing, CRM, HR, stock control and financial management. To add further appeal, the event will also see the launch of the inaugural BSA ‘Retail Excellence Awards’. The awards are designed to not only recognise the efforts of retailers who think ‘outside the square’, but to urge other retailers think more about their store design, displays and sales promotions. The end result of these efforts of course being increased sales for everyone.
