Gisela Pulido’s status as an exceptional sportsperson is now also officially recognized: On November 8 the 13-year-old Spaniard, reigning PKRA World Champion, was honored with an entry in the Guinness Book of Records. The world’s youngest kitesurfing champion; the youngest athlete worldwide to be nominated for a Laureus award;
and the female athlete with the most titles at the KPWT: these exceptional efforts not only made Gigi Pulido the most observed kitesurfer in the world, but also the first to be entered in the Guinness Book of Records.
Champion at ten

Off the record Gigi would probably also be in the running for the title ‘Greatest generated frustration with adult rivals.’ At the tender age of ten she won the KPWT World Championship title; a green 13 when she won the PKRA overall title – making her about half- to one-third as old as her competitors. Her Guinness Book entry, however, she celebrated in style: at Café del Mar in Tarifa, a few meters down the road from her parents’ house.
