EGYPT TRIP

Egypt was a very nice trip, together with Linn I flew from nice (south of France) to Paris and then directly to Hurghada where we stayed in a hotel close to the Colona water sports, the kiteschool and main kitespot there|

Sorry, but the last two weeks I haven’t been able to update the site with pictures or anything else, the Internet in Egypt wasn’t the most reliable and I couldn’t really update the site from there. I tried to keep you informed on twitter or facebook, so if you didn’t already do it, join and follow me by clicking on the small logos on the menu bar of my site !

The Colona water sports is a very nice kiteschool offering a full range of services for the kiters, with rescue service, lockers, a bar, etc at a super nice price for the time of your stay, and the staff is very nice and helpful: http://www.colonawatersports.com

We went to Hurghada to film the next Rise kite Ocean rodeo video and shoot tonnes of nice pics of the 2010 gear.

The day we arrived the wind was already blowing strong, so I went out on my 8m diablo and had the chance to be kiting with dolphins jumping around for more than 30 minutes, they were showing of their own tricks (kind of Sbends) to remind me they are the locals there ! hehe, it was amazing, the red sea has a rich animal life and beautiful clear waters, perfect for a nice trip.

The Italian dealer for Ocean Rodeo and his girlfriend was staying in the same hotel as us, and with them we took some very cool kite pictures, I can’t post them online yet, but I’m sure you will hear about those shots pretty soon.

The weather there is amazing, you get a clear blue sky and over 35 °C temperature all day long, the water is warm and the only thing you have to worry about is to drink enough water, what the local can’t do during the Ramadan in which participating Muslims refrain from eating, drinking, etc … from dawn until sunset.

The people there were very nice and Egypt is definitely one of the top kite destinations for anybody looking for good wind this time of the year. In fact most of the European kiters chose Egypt as one of the main kite destinations for their holidays because of it’s proximity and good prices.

So Egypt was a success, with amazing pictures loaded in the hard drives, several video tapes to work on and edit, I ‘ll be staying here in France for 10 days before to fly back to Cumbuco in Brazil and spend 3 months training and shooting with Linn.

Right now, I’m trying to enjoy the wind and small waves for SUP and surf session between the video editing work.

Désolé, mais les deux dernières semaines je n’ai pas eut la possibilité de mettre mon site à jour, en effet, la connection Internet en Egypte n’était pas très stable et je ne pouvais donc pas mettre le site à jour régulièrement. Cependant j’ai tenté de poster quelques updates sur twitter et facebook, donc si vous n’avez toujours pas join ces 2 différentes pages, je vous conseil de cliquer sur les liens twitter et facebook pour me suivre sur les différents trips.

L’Egypt est un super pays, et notre dernier trip a été un succès. Avec Linn nous nous sommes envolé de Nice, direction Paris et ensuite Hurghada en Egypte où nous étions au Colona water sports l’école de kite et kitespot principal sur Hurghada.

Le Colona water sports est vraiment un top endroit pour venir kiter, ils offrent pas mal de services, comme kite storage, kitechool et un super rescue service qui vient même quand vous perdez votre board et le staff est super cool: http://www.colonawatersports.com

Nous sommes allé à Hurghada pour shooter la prochaine vidéo de la Rise de Ocean Rodeo et faire les photos du matos 2010.

Le jour où nous sommes arrivé le vent soufflait assez fort, je suis donc aller rider avec ma 8m diablo et eu la chance d’avoir deux dauphins qui sautaient et me suivaient pendant près d’une demi heure dans l’eau claire et bleue près du banc de sable. Ils envoyaient des sortes de S-bend pour bien me rappeler que c’est eux qui gèrent sur et dans l’eau, une superbe expérience. L’Egypte est connu pour sa riche faune marine et ses fonds marins impressionnants. Tous les ingrédients pour un bon trip.

Le dealer Italien de Ocean Rodeo et sa compagne se trouvait dans le même hôtel que nous, et nous avons passé de bons moments ensemble a shooter de superbes photos qui devraient pas tarder à sortir et qui feront parler.

Le climat est parfait, il fait chaud, l’eau est chaude et le ciel bleu tous les jours, la seule chose à se préoccuper est de boire assez d’eau pour ne pas se déshydrater chose que les locaux ne peuvent faire à cause du Ramadan durant lequel les musulmans ne peuvent boire et manger jusqu’au couché de soleil …. ils ont du courage.

Les locaux, sont très serviable et gentil, l’ Egypte est une des top destination kite pour toutes personnes à la recherche de vent à cette période de l’année. En effet, de nombreux Européens ont choisis l’Egypt et les spots comme Hurghada, safaga, Ras sudr, el Gouna comme kite spots pour leurs vacances à cause de leur proximité et des stats de vent.

Donc l’Egypt à été un succès pour nous, avec de nombreuses images photos et vidéos chargées dans les disque dures, je vais maintenant passer 2 semaines en France avant de m’envoler pour Cumbuco au Brésil le 18 Septembre où j’y passerais 3 mois avec Linn pour m’entraîner et ramener de belles images.

Pour le moment je m’amuse à surfer en Italie lorsque les conditions le permettent.
