C2Sky Freestyle Raid KTA Vietnam

Round Two  –  Mui Ne, Vietnam  -  15-19 February 2012

It’s the KTA tour stop with a big difference. We have no major sponsors for this one but everyone has said what the hell we still want to compete in Vietnam, so this one is home grown, funded and delivered by not only the KTA but also by the riders, hangers on, local supporters and key to the whole event our local organisers and hosts in Mui Ne – C2Sky!

So it’s back to the origins of the KTA grassroots energy and lots of progression…..

Also this round of the Asian Tour will be all about making the best use of the high wind and swell conditions of Mui Ne, so no racing this time as we have the Asian Course Race Championships coming up in March in Thailand. So as the event title suggests it’s a freestyle raid on Vietnam, with new school freestyle being the main IKA and KTA Asia tour ranking event, but also the event will feature both Old Skool and Big Air, so a major feast whether you are a competitor or spectator.

You may register online for one or both disciplines taking place at the Vietnam tour stop this will secure your entry and priority to compete. You can also choose to register for the whole tour in one or both of the disciplines.

Freestyle – US$ 50.00

KTA Asian Open Old Skool Championship – US$ 50.00

Plus the bonus BIG AIR event

If you are registering for Old Skool and Big Air you may do one or the other only if you wish or both if want to all for the same registration fee

Please note the KTA Open Asian Old Skool Championship is as it says on the tin open to girls and guys from any nationality so no reason not to be there. This discipline will be run under the Old Skool Project competition rules – click here to remind yourself of them

There will be more on the Old Skool in the Riders Info section of the KTA website so have a look in there for some more useful inspiration.

Mui Ne is known for its hard core kiting conditions, a combination of strong winds and short break that is loved by riders wanting to take on the challenge. So a great location for the KTA to be calling in at once again and you can expect some fast and furious competition here.

The competition spot at Mui Ne is planned for the beach point at Unique Boutique Resort where the C2Sky school is located. The beaches and the sand shift in Mui Ne have been a bit weird this season, but there will be space enough to rig on the grass at C2Sky and plenty of room to launch especially under the strict control of the event beach marshal who will ensure all runs like clockwork for you.

So it’s a sloping beach to the water edge and then the seabed drops sharply as you enter the water, so Mui Ne is a deep water location all the way, with a combination of frontal and thermal winds throughout the day.
